Vivári is a small fishing village and the haven of Drépano. In summer, it attracts tourists and yachts and its small pier is continuously packed. To the west of Vivári is a lagoon (visible in the photo), an ecosystem where fishes reproduce and a stop / station for many wild birds (something like the Services on the motorways), some of them rare.
Drépano is a beautiful, traditional village, 2 km away from Vivári (on the other side of the lagoon). Up until the 2nd World War, it was known as Chaidári, from the Turk official Chaidár, to whom the larger area belonged.
In the bay of Drépano, to the left of its entrance as you enter by sea, are the ruins of a Venetian castle built in 1714. There is a 3 km path that leads to the castle, starting behind the highschool of Drépano.
