Its deep indentation and natural shelter from northerly winds have long made it a safe anchorage, known to mariners navigating this exposed stretch of coast.<\/p>\n\n<p>The surrounding area did not develop into a major settlement in antiquity or later periods, largely due to its terrain and relative isolation. Nevertheless, small-scale human activity has been continuous, primarily related to fishing and seasonal use of the shoreline.<\/p>\n\n<p>Fokianos retains a strongly natural character, with minimal development and a well-preserved environment. The local flora and fauna remain largely undisturbed, contributing to the ecological value of the area.<\/p>\n\n<p>In recent decades, the bay has become increasingly popular with recreational vessels, particularly due to its <strong>good shelter from northerly winds<\/strong> and the clarity of its waters.
