In the past its inhabitants were engaged almost exclusively in <strong>fishing<\/strong>, while today the village is best known for its lively waterfront, its famous seafood tavernas and its <strong>beautiful sunsets over the Saronic Gulf<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n<p>Despite its popularity, Perdika retains a strong <strong>traditional island character<\/strong>. Small houses with flower-filled courtyards, narrow alleys and bright maritime colours create one of the most picturesque villages of Aegina, while the small harbour still hosts fishing boats and visiting yachts.<\/p>\n\n<p>Just opposite Perdika lies the small island of <strong>Moni<\/strong>, a green islet belonging to a monastery and remaining <strong>uninhabited<\/strong>. Since 1962 the island has been designated a <strong>wildlife breeding park<\/strong>, where peacocks, deer, wild goats, pheasants and squirrels roam freely among the pine forests.<\/p>\n\n<div style=\"height:42px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Sights<\/h3>\n\n<p><strong>Perdika Harbour and Village<\/strong><br\/>The small harbour of Perdika forms the centre of village life. Fishing boats and small yachts line the quay, while the traditional houses, narrow lanes and small courtyards create a distinctive island atmosphere.<\/p>\n\n<p><strong>Church of Agios Sostis<\/strong><br\/>At the edge of the Perdika peninsula stands the Church of Agios Sostis, the largest church of the village. It is an important local landmark and can easily be reached through the narrow streets of the settlement. Its feast day on 6\u20137 September is celebrated with a lively two-day festival.<\/p>\n\n<p><strong>Moni Island<\/strong><br\/>The small island of Moni, directly opposite Perdika, has a sheltered cove on its northern side with a sandy beach, sun umbrellas and a small refreshment stand.
